After exploring the incredible depth of horsehide with FINE CREEK LEATHERS, designer Yoshikatsu Yamazaki (“Zaki”) now turns his attention to cowhide. At a time when horsehide dominates the leather jacket world, BOOTES challenges the norm and aims to restore the true appeal of premium cowhide. It is undoubtedly one of the most exciting leather brands today. ⸻ BOOTES ARCTURUS Custom (Double Riders Jacket – without epaulettes and waist belt) The ARCTURUS Custom is inspired by an early 1960s masterpiece motorcycle jacket. It is crafted from carefully selected premium steerhide, originally over 3mm thick, then split to approximately 2.5mm, vegetable tanned, and finished with a special sandwich-dye process. This leather offers everything that makes heavyweight cowhide special: * Rich natural grain * Rugged character * Outstanding durability With wear, it develops a beautiful glossy patina and reveals its attractive brown core (tea-core aging). Each jacket features a carefully balanced combination of heavily grained and smoother leather panels, creating a unique and visually appealing character. Although the jacket feels substantial in your hands, once worn it distributes the weight beautifully and fits naturally to the body. The pattern and silhouette are exceptionally refined—another hallmark of Yoshikatsu Yamazaki’s craftsmanship. Every detail has been meticulously recreated, including the shoulder star studs, buckles, and hardware, all developed from original molds. The interior features a soft quilted lining for excellent comfort. Every detail has been carefully considered, resulting in an outstanding leather jacket. ⸻ ARCTURUS vs. ARCTURUS Custom Both the standard ARCTURUS and ARCTURUS Custom are available. The Custom version removes the epaulettes and waist belt, creating a clean, distinctive appearance that has become one of my personal favorites. It shares a similar design philosophy with the FINE CREEK LEATHERS LEON Custom.
