FINE CREEK LEATHERS KEY LOCK 2026 Autumn / Winter Collection – Pre-Order FCLX – Lux Line The Lux Line represents the ultimate vision of Yoshikatsu Yamazaki. The name "Lux" reflects horsehide that has been refined through years of trial and error until only the finest hides remain. Yamazaki personally entrusted the entire production—from beginning to end—to master pattern maker and craftsman Mr. Arima, allowing both craftsmen to fully demonstrate their skills without compromise. This is a collection created from the combined passion and craftsmanship of two masters. FINE CREEK LEATHERS KEY LOCK – Horsehide When people think of a FINE CREEK LEATHERS car coat, the first model that comes to mind is the Gilmour. The KEY LOCK could simply be described as a shorter version of the Gilmour, but once worn, the silhouette is completely different. It embodies FINE CREEK LEATHERS' ambition to create jackets that will one day redefine what vintage leather jackets and car coats can be. The pattern has been designed around flowing curves while maintaining sharp, clean lines. The result is a car coat that feels almost tailored in appearance. Extra room has been added across the shoulders while the body follows the wearer's natural shape, creating a beautifully balanced X-line silhouette. True to FINE CREEK LEATHERS, the jacket retains a distinctly American character through its leather selection and cutting. The placement of heavily grained sections, natural vein markings, and tiger stripes has been carefully balanced to create a visually striking jacket. The Leather Thanks to the generous cooperation of the tannery, exceptionally large and thick horsehides are carefully reserved whenever they become available. From these already rare hides, only the very finest are selected for the KEY LOCK, making production extremely limited. The leather begins as horsehide measuring over 3 mm thick before being split to approximately 2 mm. It is then heavily vegetable tanned and finished with the same surface treatment developed for the iconic Richmond. By combining a black aniline dye finish beneath Richmond's signature black finish, the leather achieves one of the deepest blacks found anywhere in the FINE CREEK LEATHERS collection while maintaining a firm yet refined feel. Its aging process is equally unique. Initially, like the Richmond, the leather develops pronounced wrinkles and beautiful accordion folds. As wear continues, the leather gradually takes on the darker character seen on the Gilmour. Finally, years later, the rich brown tea-core slowly begins to emerge through areas of wear. The result is an entirely new aging experience unlike either the Richmond or the Gilmour. Beautiful wrinkles, dramatic creasing, and tea-core patina can all be enjoyed over many years. Developed using Yamazaki's completely original recipe, this leather recreates the spirit of premium American horsehide from the 1930s while maximizing the leather's natural potential. Attention to Detail The body lining is made from a premium cotton-wool blend, while the sleeves feature cotton twill for excellent comfort. An interior pocket has also been incorporated. The facings, underside of the collar, and inside of the cuffs all use specially produced Richmond horsehide, making the jacket far more comfortable than its appearance suggests. Even the horn buttons are individually carved from genuine buffalo horn, demonstrating the remarkable attention to detail found throughout the jacket.
