High-density military textiles develop wear patterns and fading similar to horsehide. Because horsehide naturally has: • Fine pores • Beautiful grain surface • Dense fiber structure Yamasaki-san challenged himself with a new idea: “What if military fabrics could be expressed entirely through horsehide?” The result is this specially embossed horsehide. Previous developments recreated: • Jungle Cloth used in Deck Jackets This time, the focus became: • High-density cotton twill used in Tanker Jackets • High-density poplin fabric used in Mackinaw Coats The vintage khaki color seen on original Mackinaw coats was obsessively pursued — from color development to the dyeing process itself. The leather uses: 1.1mm–1.2mm full vegetable-tanned horsehide, fully dyed through with rich oil content, finished with twill embossing and original treatment techniques. Each piece naturally develops unique oil marks and uneven tones, creating an incredibly realistic vintage appearance. Because of the high oil content, the leather feels: • Moist and supple • Smoothly body-hugging • Extremely flexible As the jacket is worn: • Fine wrinkles gradually develop • Areas of friction gently fade • Horsehide-specific aging contrast appears beautifully allowing you to fully enjoy the dramatic aging process unique to this leather. ⸻ 🔥 Mackinaw Coat Inspiration This model is based on the legendary Mackinaw Coat adopted by the U.S. Army from 1938 to 1942. Also known as the: “Jeep Coat,” it remains one of the most iconic military coats in American history. Features include: • Large shawl collar • Beautiful two-tone contrast with wool fabric • Chin strap • Laurel wreath donut buttons • Waist belt Even the wool melton fabric was developed completely from scratch. The luxurious wool lining provides both warmth and an authentic vintage atmosphere.
