CWORKS【Ltail】Leather M-65 Fishtail Zaki-san has created the legendary M-65 Fishtail Parka (Mods Coat) entirely in leather!! When creating this piece in leather, Zaki-san did not want to simplify or remove details simply because the material was leather. Zaki-san, the craftsmen, leather suppliers, and tanners went through repeated trial and error to make this incredible piece possible. If they were going to make an M-65 Fishtail in leather, they wanted to go all the way—reproducing details as close as possible to the original while maintaining the distinctive relaxed, oversized silhouette of a vintage fishtail parka. And the material chosen to make this possible was: 【FINE CREEK Deerskin】 Thanks to the tremendous cooperation of their leather supplier, exceptionally large and thick deer hides measuring over 1.6 mm were carefully selected from the raw-hide stage. The leather is full vegetable-tanned, dyed all the way through, naturally finished, and produced using Zaki-san's original leather recipe. This creates deerskin with an incredible balance of luxurious character and ruggedness. The hides are then split down to approximately 1.2 mm thickness for the Ltail. It is precisely because of the incredible potential and size of this deerskin that CWORKS was able to reproduce the distinctive weight, beautiful drape, and flowing silhouette of a fishtail parka. Despite being made entirely from leather, it provides an incredibly soft, almost second-skin-like wearing experience. “They really went THIS far with leather!?” That was my reaction（笑） Absolutely incredible and seriously cool!! This is a true Leather Fishtail Parka 🙇 Another incredible detail is that vintage M-65 liners and hoods can be attached and removed, with the necessary buttons and buttonholes incorporated into the garment. About the Natural Characteristics of Deerskin Due to the nature of genuine leather, there may be natural scratches, scuffs, grain variations, and other marks. Horsehide and cowhide generally come from animals raised for the food industry, so they tend to have fewer natural scars than deerskin. Deer, however, live in a natural environment during their lifetime, so their hides naturally tend to have more scratches and scars. FINE CREEK also specially asks its leather suppliers to reserve particularly large deer hides whenever they become available. Because large single pieces of leather are used, natural scars and variations may be more noticeable. These marks could be hidden by applying pigment during the tanning and finishing process. However, doing so would also hide much of the natural beauty and character of the deerskin. For this reason, FINE CREEK places great importance on preserving the leather's natural texture, softness, and beautiful drape, finishing the leather with vegetable tanning, through-dyeing, and a natural uncoated finish. I personally own many FINE CREEK deerskin products. They certainly have natural scratches and marks, but they are incredibly comfortable to wear, and the leather develops a beautiful sheen and character over time. I hope you can appreciate these natural marks as part of what makes FINE CREEK deerskin so special.
