For this project, Mr. Tanaka requested supervision from: FINE CREEK LEATHERS founder Yamazaki-san (“Zaki-san”). The result is a leather jacket that perfectly combines: NAKED SUN’s unique identity with Zaki-san’s obsessive craftsmanship. ⸻ 🧥 Model: “GLORY DAYS” Originally established in 1967, the legendary “EMI” brand became beloved by countless musicians and still has collectors all over the world today. The design source for this jacket is EMI’s iconic model: “SMOKE” ⸻ 🔥 About the Design The legendary 70’s model “SMOKE” is especially known for its highly distinctive back design. The right shoulder features a sun motif symbolizing: • Freedom • Hope capturing the spirit and atmosphere of the era. The jacket combines: • A refined and sophisticated appearance • A clean but powerful silhouette • Strong visual presence While preserving the original vintage details, an entirely new original pattern was created to improve overall comfort and wearability. ⸻ 🔥 Leather The leather is truly exceptional. Specifications: • 5mm thick full vegetable-tanned buffalo hide • Infused with oils • Split down to approximately 2mm thickness This process creates: • Incredible depth and texture • Heavy visual presence • Excellent comfort and flexibility • Beautiful aging and wrinkle development over time The leather is first fully drum-dyed brown, then overdyed in black and brown tones — creating a rich tea-core leather with tremendous depth. Because the leather contains a large amount of oil, the color develops an especially deep and unique vintage character unlike anything else. ⸻ 🔥 VINTAGE BROWN The “VINTAGE BROWN” color is especially striking. After the initial brown drum-dye process, the leather is overdyed again in brown tones while retaining heavy oil content. The result is: • A deep vintage-style brown • Almost black in certain lighting • Incredible depth and richness The brighter brown stitching also creates a beautiful contrast. ⸻ 🔥 Craftsmanship To create this jacket: • The entire pattern and silhouette were reconstructed from scratch • Each leather panel was carefully selected based on texture and grain expression • The placement of every section of buffalo leather was intentionally chosen The cutting and leather matching show the same obsessive attention to detail that also defines FINE CREEK LEATHERS.
